Also called GHK-Cu (GHK for the  three amino acids – glycine, histidine & lysine & Cu for copper). Copper Tripeptide 1 both inhibits and breaks down scar collagen. Yje benefit of this peptide when microchanneling or nanochanneling is it’s effect on breaking down scars and wrinkles, while facilitating production of better quality collagen.

Tranexamic acid is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine. It inhibits the breakdown of fibrin through the reversible blockade of lysine binding sites on plasminogen molecules. It was originally designed as a drug to reduce blood loss after surgery.

Tranexamic acid has more recently demonstrated a curative effect towards melasma and ultraviolet-induced PIH in Asian countries.

In a recent Clinical Trial: Melan-a cells and human melanocytes were cultured with fractional CO2 laser-treated keratinocyte-conditioned media. Melanin content and tyrosinase activity were evaluated in cells treated with or without tranexamic acid. Protein levels of tyrosinase, tyrosinase-related protein (TRP)-1, and TRP-2 were evaluated in melan-a cells. Signaling pathway molecules involved in melanogenesis in melanoma cells were also investigated.

Tranexamic acid-treated melanocytes exhibited reduced melanin content and tyrosinase activity. Tranexamic acid also decreased tyrosinase, TRP-1, and TRP-2 protein levels. Conclusion

Tranexamic acid may be an attractive candidate for skin lightening and the treatment of PIH.
