Niacinamide

Skincare Ingredients and Facts Niacinamide

Niacinamide, (or nicotinamide) is an antioxidant derived from grains like wheat and oats that aids in barrier maintenance, improves skin brightness and reduces the appearance of pigmentary irregularities. It’s a Vitamin B3 derivative that’s water soluble, so it remains stable in formulation, interacts well with other ingredients, and is absorbed efficiently by the barrier layers of the epidermis

By itself it is generally less irritating to sensitive skin that vitamin C or hydroquinone, and it’s improvement of barrier function reduces inflammation without drugs. This anti-inflammatory effect can reduce and prevent acne breakouts and Niacinamide’s ready absorption will reduce the appearance of fine lines and improve skin tone and brightness immediately!

Niacinamide is safe for all skin types, (even sensitive skin), and can even be used as a morning/evening alternating regiment with more aggressive skin lighteners like hydroquinone and tranexamic acid, (alternate to avoid irritation). It can be found in a host of skin care products from moisturizing serums and creams, to cleansers, exfoliants, masks and even sunscreen. Look for niacinamide in your skincare for an extra boost in brightening, hydration and barrier function.
