Methylsilanol mannuronate

Skincare Ingredients and facts Methylsilanol Mannuronate

Methylsilanol mannuronate is both a surfactant and an anti-oxident with anti-inflammatory effects.

It’s an organic derivative of silicon, which is important in the health and development of skin, hair and nails. Silicon plays a key role in the synthesis of collagen and elastin, the two proteins that help maintain the skin’s elasticity and youthful appearance.

Methylsilanol mannuronate can also be classified as an organic “silanol” since it’s comprised of a silicon with an -OH group attached. It is then reacted with an extract from the brown algae laminaria called mannuronic acid. This gives it it’s surfactant quality that reduces surface tension at the water air barrier, facilitating even, smooth application of your skin care products.

As an ingredient in cosmetics and skincare products, methylsilanol mannuronate acts as an anti-aging ingredient because it expresses an ability to protect from free radicals, preserve elastin & collagen against glycation, stimulate enhanced collagen production, act as an anti-inflammatory agent.
